How to decide which service you require?

Most modern cars only need a service once a year, but older cars require a service once every six months. The manufacturer's service hand book will set what is best for your car. The type of service you need will also be affected by how you use your car. For example, lots of short journeys where the engine does not have a chance to warm up properly will probably mean more frequent oil and filter changes.

Recomended every 6 months/5000 miles.

Gold Service £180* £245 Performance cars 2.0L & above
Good Garage Scheme Industry Standard Service

Recomended every 12 months/10,000 miles.
Duration 4 hours
Engine oil & filter change

Fit new fuel filter
Fit new air filter

Top up gearbox oil

Top up brake fluid level

Top up screen wash

Top up coolant level

Top up power steering level

Inspect brake pads & discs
Inspect tyres
Replace spark plugs

Apply fuel system treatment

· Improves engine performance & driveability

· Frees sticking valves & piston rings

· Reduces exhaust emissions

· Maintain oxygen sensor & EGR valve cleanliness

Apply Engine flush

· Improves engine performance & driveability

· Cleans engine internally & provides anti wear protection

· Frees sticking piston rings, hydraulic valve lifters

· Removes lacquer, varnish & sludge deposits from crank case

· Neutralises crankcase acids keeping new oil cleaner for longer

Check timing belt replacement interval

Check for damage to bodywork

Check condition & operation of all seat belts

Check operation of interior & exterior lights

Check operation of ABS and air bag warning lights

Check air conditioning operation (including bad odour)

Check windscreen washers & wipers

Check horn

Check operation of suspension dampers

Lubricate all door hinges, locks & bonnet catches

Check fuel cap

Check cooling system (including fan operation)

Check & record Anti Freeze protection

Check brake fluid condition

Check all auxiliary drive belts (not timing belt)

Check engine breather system

Check vacuum pipes

Check power steering condition and fluid condition

Check & clean throttle body

Check battery level and lubricate terminals

Check brake lines & fuel lines

Check condition & security of exhaust

Check all steering & suspension joints, mountings & gators

Check all tyres for wear & damage

Check all wheel bearings for excessive movement / noise

Check CV gaiters & joints for wear & splits

Check clutch cable/cylinder

Grease all greasing points

Check operation of front brakes

Check operation of rear brakes (including handbrake)

Torque wheel nuts/studs

Road test vehicle & report any findings
